Get ready to be inspired by the heartwarming story of Christine Thornton,
a retired nurse and ENGin volunteer, and her friend, who is a professional musician living in Lviv, Daria Kuzmenko!
Despite living thousands of miles apart, Christine and Daria formed a special bond through ENGin, and when Daria's orchestra was invited to play at Radio City Music Hall in NYC, they knew they had to meet. And they did!
Christine traveled 2.5 hours to NYC to spend a magical day with Daria, where they shared tea, culture, and gifts.
“The day I won't ever forget. The spectacular part was that we were together! We had tea and talked; we walked and talked and talked and talked. We shared differences in our cultures that she had experienced, we exchanged simple yet meaningful personal gifts we prepared for each other…" Christine told us.
While Christine retired from her nursing career, her heart has been pulled towards helping others. She's been working on fundraising projects, packing first aid kits for soldiers, and even helping a young refugee family secure jobs and navigate their new world. And she's not alone in her journey. Christine credits ENGin as
a crucial link in her chain of events, providing her with resources, communication, and continued support that exceeded her expectations.
Christine's story is a reminder that no matter where you come from or where you are, there's always a way to connect with others and make a difference in their lives.
