We’ll pair you up with someone in Ukraine for weekly videochats at times that are convenient for you. During your conversations, you’ll practice English with your partner(s), learn about each other’s cultures, and offer an empathetic, authentic space for connection.

No teaching experience or knowledge of Ukrainian is required to volunteer with us. All of our participants can understand and hold a basic conversation in English.
Our only requirements for volunteers are:

REQUIREMENTS FOR VOLUNTEERS
You do not need any experience to volunteer with us! We do seek volunteers who meet the following criteria:
✅ Commitment: volunteers should be ready to dedicate 1 hour a week to ENGin for at least 10-12 weeks. If you're looking for more hours, we can accommodate that too!
✅ Age: 13 years old and above.
✅ Availability for sessions: please note the time difference between Ukraine and your country:
🕝 US & Canada (mornings/early afternoons work best): Ukraine is 7-10 hours ahead.
🕝 Asia, Australia & New Zealand (afternoons/ evenings work best): Ukraine is 4-10 hours behind
🕝 Europe, Africa & Middle East: a similar time zone with Ukraine.
✅ Language Proficiency: You should be able to speak English freely with minimal mistakes. Non-native speakers welcome!
✅ Technology: all sessions take place online, so volunteers should be comfortable using an online video chat platform.
✅ Nationality/Location: due to russia's invasion of Ukraine, we are not able to accept applications from volunteers currently located on the territory of russia, Belarus, or occupied Crimea. We also cannot accept volunteers who deny or justify russian aggression, who oppose Ukraine's independence and full territorial integrity, or who support the myth of "brotherly nations."
