Learning English Through Curiosity: My Journey with ENGin’s Psychology Community

by Daryna, ENGin student from Ukraine

At ENGin, learning English often becomes more than just improving language skills — it turns into a journey of self-discovery. In this story, Daryna shares how joining our Psychology Community helped her connect her curiosity about the human mind with meaningful conversations in English.

Learning Through What You Love

I’ve always been an eager learner. Over time, I’ve tried countless ways to make language learning more engaging — from podcasts and journaling to studying through movies. But I’ve found that the secret to making it truly exciting lies in combining learning with your personal interests.

For me, that meant joining the Psychology Community at ENGin.

Discovering the Right Fit

I’ve always been fascinated by people — their emotions, reactions, and the way we treat one another. Psychology has helped me make sense of those questions, so when I saw there was a community dedicated to it within ENGin, I knew I had to join.

And I was right. The experience has been far richer than studying on my own. It’s not just about improving my English — it’s about connecting with like-minded people, many of whom are psychology students or graduates. Together, we learn something new about both language and the way our minds work.

What Our Meetings Look Like

Our community meets once a month to explore a specific topic. Recent discussions have focused on the masks people wear and wellness, where our leader, Jissa, shared fascinating scientific insights before opening the floor for group discussion.

Before or after each session, we often complete short psychology tests or polls that help us understand the topic on a deeper level — and ourselves, too. There’s never any pressure to participate, only genuine curiosity. The tasks are fun, interactive, and entirely voluntary.

A Supportive, Interactive Space

One of the things I love most about this community is how collaborative it is. Jissa puts so much effort into making everyone feel heard and understood. Her questions and feedback spark self-discovery — I’ve learned sides of my personality I didn’t even know existed!

We also have lively chat discussions outside of meetings, where we talk about psychology, share thoughts, and even debate different perspectives. It’s a space that encourages growth, both linguistically and personally. Here, you’re never just a passive observer — you’re part of something creative and inspiring.

Why It Matters

The Psychology Community is the right place for anyone who’s curious about how the mind works — or simply looking for a supportive space to grow. It’s not only about learning English; it’s about the comfort of being part of a kind, open-minded group that helps you express yourself freely.

For me, it’s proof that learning can be more than just study — it can be discovery, connection, and joy.
