WHO IT'S FOR
ENGin volunteers who want to meet their student halfway
No prior Ukrainian needed. This course is built around phrases you'll actually use with your student — everyday greetings, small talk, questions about their life — paired with the culture behind them. The alphabet tutorial is included too, as a nice bonus lesson if you want to go a step further.
We've seen this happen more than once: a volunteer greets someone in Ukrainian, and the room changes. When Robert Delp visited ENGin Lviv this summer, he greeted people in Ukrainian, and word spread through the room fast — it wasn't only his student who stopped to talk with him, but other Ukrainians who happened to be there that evening too. Ukrainians notice, and deeply appreciate, when someone takes the time to learn their language.

Why this course exists
Ukrainians have kept their traditions, humor, and warmth alive even through years of war. You can see it in the sunflower fields, taste it in a bowl of borscht, and find it in the embroidery patterns passed from grandmother to granddaughter. This course helps you bring a small piece of that culture into your next conversation with your student.

Greet your student in Ukrainian at your next meeting, and see what it does to the conversation.

Ten lessons that build on each other
Short, story-driven videos, up to 30 minutes each, 25–30 new words at a time, each with its own vocabulary list, plus a quick exercise after every lesson to help it stick.

More than phrases
Family traditions, food, fashion, history — you'll understand where your student comes from, not just how to order coffee. By the end you'll be able to:
Greet, thank, and comfort someone in Ukrainian
Order food, ask directions, shop for basics
Talk about family, hobbies, and everyday life
Recognize polite, respectful communication styles and cultural dos and don'ts

No live sessions to schedule around — short video lessons, up to 30 minutes each, with a quick exercise after every one. 6 months of access, so you can go through it at your own pace.
