How My ENGin Communities Journey Started
When I first joined ENGin Communities, I was looking for more than just a place to practise English — I was searching for kindred spirits within an English-speaking community. What I found exceeded my expectations: a warm, vibrant space where genuine connections are formed around shared passions and values. The Women Empowerment Community was where that journey truly began.
Women Empowerment Community
Since joining, I have built quite a circle of acquaintances in ENGin, and two of them deserve special mention. The first is Katerina — a teacher who, much like me, has a deep passion for neurobiology. Our shared interests have naturally grown into a close, meaningful friendship built on mutual understanding. The second is Nika, who has a great admiration for fashion and a thoughtful approach to lifestyle. We share many common ambitions, and her fashion channel — of which I am a proud member — is something I genuinely enjoy being part of.
As a community, we regularly read articles and discuss topics such as lifestyle, habits, and openness to new experiences, all explored from a female perspective. What makes the space special is the sense of mutual support, the friendly atmosphere, and the care members show for one another. We also enjoy fun activities together — from mood boards in GIFs to sharing personal habits and exchanging life advice.
Psychology Community
The Psychology Community is an entirely different world — and a fascinating one at that. Here, we explore what goes on inside our "decision centre," diving deep into cognitive mechanisms and examining the nuances of perception, perseverance, and the tricks of mental endurance.
Needless to say, being part of it is a genuine source of pride and joy for me.
So far, we have explored the neuroscience behind our habits, completed psychological quizzes to broaden our horizons, and practised exercises aimed at strengthening our communication and problem-solving skills. In short, it is a true self-development and personal growth community.
Movie Community
The Movie Community is all about creative entertainment. We share film recommendations, curate our own personal watchlists, and take quizzes on lifestyle and self-reflection through the lens of cinema — discovering which movie genre we embody or which character we resonate with most. Kahoot quizzes on watched films add another layer of fun, as do games like guessing a movie from a GIF, completing a film title, or identifying a character from a cropped image.
It was here that I discovered just how many people share my taste in films.
English, Self-Development, and Personal Initiatives
Equally worth mentioning is how we nurture our linguistic growth within these communities. Leaders regularly share vocabulary and run English quizzes, while members themselves contribute idioms and useful terms in a genuine spirit of peer-to-peer support. Members are also encouraged to share relevant content on topics related to the clubs — with the leader's consent, of course. I even took the initiative to post my own joke and a friendly checklist once, which felt like a small but meaningful step.
A Note on My Blogs
On a related note, I also used to run two blogs, and members from across all the clubs have joined my readership, giving me a lovely English-speaking audience. Looking ahead, I am excited to join the Book Club with Helen to read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Bettie Smith, hoping to find yet more kindred spirits along the way.
At its heart, ENGin is about international friendship, lifestyle, and self-development — the improvement of one's English is simply a wonderful bonus. I wholeheartedly recommend it.
